The day the music died?

I already know what happened and everything but I have a specific question and I'm looking for interesting facts, for example: the last thing that Jennings said to the musicians was "I hope your old plane crashes". ironic stuff that I could include in my speech. now my question: does anyone know how cold it was the night the plane crashed. obviously it was freezing out but do you know the exact temperature or if you dont how could i describe it in my speech? thanks in advance :)
