Cleveland vas plus irons?

i just picked up a used set off of the internet. i was wondering about what year these clubs came out? i hit some at the range and i have alot more luck then with my old sports authority set. anyone else use these clubs that is a descent player? i heard they hit straight but are a little shorter then other iron sets. also what would be a good cleaning agent to remove dirt and the stuff from the astro turf from the club faces without removing the paint in the grooves?
